A US collegiate headwear and golf brand, and the founder's second store with us. We split the college range by university, rebuilt the menus, and ran the store for four months.

The brief they came with

Rieti Athletic Club sells officially licensed collegiate caps for Texas A&M University and the University of Houston. It also sells golf ball markers, golf towels, head covers and apparel, organised into the Collegiate, City and Signature Series collections.

The store was already live on the Symmetry theme. The founder started with one request: add the free shipping bar we had just built for BUNI Body. The work grew from there. He wanted the catalogue organised properly, a way to capture demand for sold-out items, and a team he could send changes to without touching theme code himself.

The problem

The College collection held both universities in one long list, with leftover "Men" and colour filters that didn't help anyone shopping for a team cap. Products from one school were ending up at the bottom of the page, below the other.

The menu headings didn't match the products. There was no Accessories collection, so the Accessories link pulled in hats instead of ball markers, towels and head covers.

When a product sold out, the store showed a plain "Sold Out" button. That meant lost sales, and the founder couldn't see which products people were still asking for.

Product pages showed exact stock counts, which the brand didn't want customers to see.

Judge.me reviews were showing star ratings without the written reviews. The review section also sat too low on the product page to be noticed.

There were leftover pieces from setup: a summer sale message, a 15% discount pop-up, a Journal link the brand didn't use, and no Instagram link.

What we built

  • 01 A free shipping bar shared with BUNI Body Symmetry could only show a plain line of text for shipping messages, so we custom-coded a free shipping bar. We built it on a draft theme, had the founder test it, then pushed it live. At his request, the bar's accent line uses the same green as BUNI Body. We also removed the old summer sale message.
  • 02 College collections split by university We removed the Men and colour filters from the College collection and updated its banner. We created separate Texas A&M University and University of Houston collections and added them as filters and a sub-menu under College, driven by product metafields. New caps can be added to the right school without developer help. We also set the sort order so all Texas A&M caps show first, then Houston, with the same order across both collections.
  • 03 Menus that match the products We linked the Apparel, Headwear and Accessories headings so each one opens the right products. We added an Accessories filter and then a new Head Covers category under Accessories. We also linked the Instagram icon in the header and footer and removed the unused Journal page from the footer.
  • 04 Back-in-stock alerts and low-stock messaging We installed a back-in-stock app that replaces "Sold Out" with a "Notify Me" button. Shoppers can leave their email, they get notified when the product is back, and the founder gets a list of his most-requested sold-out products. We also hid exact stock numbers and set products with fewer than 50 units to show "Low Inventory".
  • 05 Reviews that show up and get seen We fixed the Judge.me widget so written reviews appear alongside the stars on mobile and desktop. We added the widget to the live theme and moved it higher on the product page. We also fixed a heading-tag issue in the newsletter section for cleaner page structure.
  • 06 New products, policies and a store review We uploaded new products as they came in: two Houston Rope caps for the City collection, two Flow State Hoosiers caps for the Signature Series, and two new head covers. We updated the shipping policy and removed the 15% discount pop-up. The founder asked what else could be improved, so we reviewed the whole store and sent him a written improvement plan for the next phase.
