The brief they came with

Ambrose sells sculpted ribbed tanks with built-in support, made in New York City from California-grown Supima cotton and Italian technical fabric. The store ran on Prestige, but the live theme was behind and showed an update waiting. The team called it semi-urgent and wanted the site updated fast.

After a short kickoff call on Jan 28, 2026, the team sent a five-point scope. Update the Prestige theme. Find and fix code issues after the update. Add more color options on product pages. Make the newsletter popup always visible. Share optimization recommendations for performance, UX, mobile and product pages.

The problem

The live theme was out of date. Shopify was flagging Prestige version 10.11.1 as available. The store also had custom code, so a plain update risked breaking layouts on a live store.

Each color of a tank was its own product. A shopper on one color had no simple way to see or switch to the others from the product page. For a brand whose range is built on one cut in several shades, that hid most of the choice.

The newsletter popup was not always on screen. Shoppers who closed it or missed it had no easy way back to sign up, which meant fewer email subscribers.

Some details on the homepage worked against the calm look of the brand. A scrolling text bar kept moving where the team wanted still text, and one homepage section and one product page section needed fixing after the update.

The About Us, Contact and FAQ pages also needed rebuilding so they matched the rest of the refreshed store.

What we built

  • 01 A safe Prestige update on a draft We duplicated the live theme and updated the copy to the latest Prestige version, 10.11.1. We kept it as a draft so the live store kept selling while we worked. Then we went through the custom code to find what the update had broken. The team could review every change on a preview link before anything went public.
  • 02 Homepage and product page layout fixes On the updated theme we fixed the homepage layout and a broken section on the product page. At the team's request we turned the scrolling text bar into still text. We also checked the homepage video on mobile, on both Android and iPhone, and confirmed it played automatically without a play button.
  • 03 Color options linked with metafields We built a way to link separate products together as color variants using metafields. A shopper on The Low Scoop Neck in white now sees the other colors on the same product page and can jump between them in one click. After review, the team asked for a darker brown on the brown swatch, and we updated it.
  • 04 New About, Contact and FAQ pages We rebuilt the internal pages on the new theme: About Us, Contact and FAQ. Each page was shared as a preview link so the team could check copy and layout before launch. This rounded out the store so the inner pages match the homepage and product pages.
  • 05 A newsletter teaser that never goes away The team gave us Klaviyo access, but the form option did not show in their account. So we used the same signup form already on the website. We added a small teaser in the bottom right corner that stays on screen and opens the popup when clicked. It worked without any change in Klaviyo.
  • 06 Launch and a final image fix Once the team confirmed everything was done, we published the updated theme and the store went live. One last request came in: a subtle line showed around one of two images placed side by side. We removed it so the two images sit flush against each other.
