BUNI Body

bunibody.com ↗

A US skincare brand developed by board-certified physicians. We helped pick the theme before they bought one, then built a quiet, premium store on Prestige in about three weeks.

The brief they came with

BUNI Body launched with three products:

  • 01 TRANSFORM Scar + Body Treatment Oil, which comes with a BUNI Onyx Gua Sha
  • 02 Nipple Lippy Balm
  • 03 Vulva Balm

The founder wanted a small store with a "very clean, minimalist, higher end" look. His style reference was Cellcosmet, a Swiss luxury skincare brand, but without its red: lots of white and an ultra-premium feel.

The brief started as three product pages and an About page. It grew to cover the Home, About, Collection, Product, FAQ, Contact and Policy pages, plus search, filters, a reviews app and payments.

The problem

The products are personal and medical, which makes them hard to sell. The store had to earn trust quickly without looking like a pharmacy.

The brand hadn't picked a theme yet, and premium Shopify themes are non-refundable. A wrong choice would have cost money and time before any work started.

The product content wasn't finished. Infographics for the second and third products were still being made when the build began, so the store had to move forward without holding up launch.

The founder wanted Stripe for payments, but Stripe doesn't show up as a separate checkout option on Shopify.

The theme's demo homepage came full of promotional sections: a super sale banner, a first-purchase discount, several marketing banners, a blog feed and an FAQ block. None of them suited a quiet, premium brand.

What we built

  • 01 Theme chosen before anything was bought We shortlisted four premium themes: Prestige, Pipeline, Flawless and Madrid. The founder leaned toward Pipeline. Because the theme couldn't be refunded, we compared each one's customisation options against the brand's niche and style before he bought anything. We recommended Prestige, and the store is built on it.
  • 02 A white, luxury look based on the brand's reference We designed the store around generous white space and a restrained palette, following the Cellcosmet reference. We treated BUNI as the master brand and "Transform" as a product name, so the naming stays consistent on every page. Progress was shared every day, starting with the Home and About pages, then the FAQ, Contact and Product Listing pages.
  • 03 A product page template built for infographics We built one product page template that each product's infographics sit in cleanly. Products went live on the site as soon as their content arrived, which kept the build moving while the second and third products were still being finished. Mobile responsiveness was built into every page before the three products were signed off.
  • 04 A cleaner homepage with a video hero Once the founder settled his messaging, we worked through a 12-point revision list: removed the sale banner and first-purchase discount, removed the demo marketing banners, blog feed and FAQ block, removed the image rollover effect, fixed the Shop Now link, relabeled the product section "Our Products", and replaced the hero image with a full-width brand video.
  • 05 The Essentials Bundle and checkout We added the Essentials Bundle as a fourth product. It puts all three products in one pack and sits below them on the home page, the products page and the related products section. For payments we set the brand up on Shopify Payments, which runs on Stripe behind the scenes. The founder got the same security and processing he wanted from Stripe, managed inside Shopify.
  • 06 Trust signals and support after launch After launch we stayed on to support the brand. We fixed Judge.me reviews that showed stars but not comments and moved the reviews section higher on the product page. We custom-coded a free shipping bar in the brand's green, since the theme only supported a plain text line. We replaced the product footer with a "Doctor Approved" message, "Developed by world renowned, board certified physicians.", removed pop-ups and discount offers as the brand's pricing changed, and walked the founder through adding products and variants himself.
