The brief they came with
Econess sells sustainable fashion and natural cosmetics made in a cruelty-free and ethical way. Baby products and homewares are planned. The store was live on Shopify with around 365 products. Some were added by hand and some came in through the Syncio app. Daniela was about to step away for around two months and wanted the store finished and in good hands.
The brief covered a full audit of the store and around 30 new products. It also covered English versions of the French synced listings, category edits, shipping and duties at checkout, on-page SEO, and the products Facebook would not accept.
The problem
Products synced through Syncio arrived in French. The store only runs in English, so shoppers landed on pages they could not read. Those listings also did not follow the way Daniela wanted products presented.
Many products sat in the wrong category. With 365 products across fashion and cosmetics, a messy catalog makes browsing harder and weakens on-page SEO.
Duties fees would not show at checkout. The business had just launched and did not need to be VAT registered, and the tax settings did not reflect that yet. Shipping was split two ways: dropshipped products and stock Daniela held herself. Both had to work correctly in Shopify shipping.
Around 10 products were missing from the Facebook catalog. Some underwear was rejected as too sheer, and CBD beauty products were flagged as drugs. Without them, Facebook and Instagram Shopping showed an incomplete range, and some product images also had issues.
Timing mattered too. Daniela needed the work to start right away, while she was still available to share product details and access.
What we built
- 01 A full audit of the store We started with an audit of the store, the catalog, shipping settings and the Facebook and Instagram connection. That gave us a list of what to fix first. Daniela shared product details, images and brand information in Google Sheets and Google Drive. We moved day-to-day conversation onto Microsoft Teams so she could talk to the developers directly.
- 02 Around 30 new products added Daniela had fewer than 50 new products ready, with around 30 confirmed for upload. We added them from the Google Sheets and Drive files she prepared, using her product details, images and brand names. Each new product went into the right category for sustainable fashion or natural cosmetics.
- 03 French Syncio listings rewritten in English Products synced in through Syncio arrived in French. We translated them into English to match the rest of the store. We also changed how those listings were laid out so they followed the format Daniela shared with us.
- 04 Categories and on-page SEO cleaned up Many of the 365 products needed category changes. We regrouped them and handled on-page SEO fixes across product pages. Off-page SEO stayed with the agency Daniela already used for keywords, Google Search Console, Google Analytics and link building, so our work focused only on the store itself.
- 05 Shipping for dropship and own stock Econess ships two ways in Shopify shipping: dropshipped products and stock held by the team. We checked both setups and worked on showing duties fees at checkout. We also reviewed tax settings so they matched a newly launched business that did not need VAT registration.
- 06 Facebook and Instagram Shopping fixes Around 10 products were missing from the Facebook catalog. Some underwear was rejected as too sheer, and CBD beauty products were flagged as drugs. We looked at each rejection and at the image issues on Facebook and Instagram Shopping so more of the range could show on both channels.
