The brief they came with

VinoKart sells wine online, with a Master Sommelier guided selection and a private Secret Sundays list for rare bottles. The store already ran on Shopify, but the team could not change most page content without a developer. They wanted a store they could manage themselves, and they wanted the work ranked by commercial impact, not run as a task list.

The Phase 1 brief covered a Shopify CMS setup, the homepage and customer journey, and collection and product pages. It also covered Secret Sunday signups into Klaviyo, search and product discovery, reviews, GA4 and Meta tracking checks, mobile fixes, performance and QA. It asked for handover documentation at the end.

The problem

Page content was locked in code. Changing a heading, an image or a layout meant waiting on a developer. That slowed down every update the team wanted to make.

Secret Sundays is how VinoKart shares rare finds with a private list. Every email from that page needed to reach Klaviyo, or it was a customer the team could not reach with early access or weekly drops.

Sold-out wines sat among in-stock bottles in collections and featured sections. Sold-out product pages still showed a sticky Add to Cart bar. Shoppers had to scroll past bottles they could not buy.

The homepage felt crowded. The Secret Sundays section took up too much of the page. The Meet the Team and Master Sommelier Guided sections repeated each other. The founder also kept finding typos.

The team had also heard from many customers that the mobile site looked cluttered. For a store selling carefully chosen bottles, the brief asked for customer reviews and better search so shoppers could trust the selection and find a wine quickly.

What we built

  • 01 Every page rebuilt as editable sections We started by converting every page into dynamic Shopify sections on Luxe. The team now manages content, images, fonts, colors, spacing and section settings in the Theme Customizer, with no code changes. The homepage hero and the Master Sommelier Guided page work the same way. We recorded a Loom walkthrough that shows the team how to update content and manage sections on their own, so routine changes no longer need a developer.
  • 02 Secret Sunday signups synced to Klaviyo We connected the Secret Sunday signup form to Klaviyo. Every email submitted on that page now goes straight into a dedicated Secret Sunday list. The team can send early access emails, weekly drops and discount campaigns to that list and build automations from it, without exporting or copying addresses by hand.
  • 03 Sold-out wines moved out of the way Small-batch bottles sell out, so we changed how sold-out products behave. They now drop to the end of collection pages instead of mixing with available wines. They are hidden from featured product sections, so the homepage only shows bottles people can buy. On sold-out product pages we turned off the sticky Add to Cart bar, which had been prompting a purchase that could not happen.
  • 04 Sticky header, search and faster Add to Cart We made the header sticky and expanded the footer navigation, so key pages are always one tap away. We added store search, so shoppers can find a wine directly instead of browsing every collection. Add to Cart buttons went onto homepage product cards first, then onto product cards across collection and product pages. We also updated the icon set and fixed a run of mobile responsiveness issues.
  • 05 Reviews and a calmer homepage We set up customer reviews to collect and display feedback across the store. In the homepage redesign we added more space and a clearer hierarchy, made the primary CTAs stand out and reworked the Secret Sundays section so it takes up less of the page. The team flagged a Secret Sundays image they had not approved, and we swapped in a picture they approved that evening. We also fixed typos as we found them.
  • 06 Handover, a domain fix and next steps After Phase 1 wrapped, the live site went down. We traced the problem to an expired GoDaddy domain plan that was sending visitors to a lander page, and the team got it renewed. We then reviewed the founder's new homepage sequence: trust badges, featured wines, Shop by Category, the founder quote, values, and Secret Sundays last. We advised one layout for desktop and mobile to keep the page fast, and dropping the Full Story button after the quote.
