Hey Bud
heybudskincare.com ↗Hey Bud is an Australian skincare brand that built its landing pages in GemPages before bringing us in. We coded custom Liquid sections from Figma into the theme, with desktop and mobile layouts and ongoing store changes.

The brief they came with
Hey Bud sells skincare on Shopify and describes itself as a big ecommerce brand. The store ran on its current theme, and the team used GemPages as a page builder. They wanted a Shopify specialist who could write custom code into their Liquid and theme instead. They also wanted someone fast and reliable who could work part time on a steady basis.
The brief opened with a test. We had to recreate one section of a landing page from the Figma file "Hey Bud Skincare Landing Page", using the "Wireframe R4 08-26-22" frame for fonts, icons and images. It had to work on desktop and mobile within 24 hours. The wider scope listed Figma to Shopify builds, theme changes, bug fixes, static pages like About and Contact, app installs, and Shopify Plus checkout work.
The problem
The landing pages lived in GemPages. Every layout depended on a page builder app, not on the theme itself. The team wanted sections coded into Liquid, where they could control them directly.
The designs sat in Figma, not on the store. The landing page wireframes were already on round four, with set fonts, icons and imagery. Each section had to match the file on desktop and on mobile.
Speed mattered. The team set a 24 hour turnaround for the test, and they planned to hand work over regularly after that. They needed a partner who could pick up tasks quickly and keep a steady pace.
The scope was wide. It ran from landing pages and static pages to app setup, bug fixes and checkout changes. That called for one team that knew the theme well, not a new developer for each task.
What we built
- 01 The Figma landing page section, recreated We started with the test the team set. We rebuilt the chosen section of the Hey Bud landing page from the "Wireframe R4 08-26-22" frame in Figma, using the file's fonts, icons and images. We built it on a development store and shared a product page link so the team could check it. It worked on desktop and mobile, and we delivered it the same day, inside the 24 hour window.
- 02 Landing pages coded into Liquid After the test, we moved on to the full landing page designs in the Hey Bud Skincare Figma file. We coded the sections into the theme with Liquid rather than building them in GemPages. Each one was set up for desktop and mobile from the start.
- 03 Theme sections in place of GemPages The team wanted to rely less on the page builder. We built custom sections in the theme so new pages could be put together from the theme editor.
- 04 Ongoing changes and bug fixes The work ran part time from December 2022 to August 2024. Over that stretch we made changes to the live store, fixed theme bugs and picked up new tasks as the team sent them.
