The brief they came with

Nailah Beauty sells handmade soap bars, body butters, body oils, face serums and hair growth oils. The store was already on Shopify, but it was not doing the work of a proper selling site. The team wanted a redesign that felt like the brand, and a store that could sell sets and repeat orders, not just single products.

The brief covered a new homepage designed in Figma first, then the build of the home, about, contact, collection and product pages. It also covered bundles, subscriptions, a welcome discount through Klaviyo and a page for wholesale buyers.

02

The problem

The range covers three very different categories: skin, hair and body. A single product page layout meant hair products showed copy written for skin, and the "Why your skin will love it" section made no sense on a hair oil.

The brand wanted customers to buy in sets. There were six bundles, each with its own discount rule, plus a "3 soaps for $30" offer. Several products sat in more than one bundle, so product pages were showing two competing offers at once.

Subscriptions had to be switched on for six products only, at 30, 45 and 60 day intervals, without touching anything live until it was ready. The team also wanted to add subscriptions to new products later without calling a developer.

Wholesale orders were being entered by hand. The team wanted bulk buyers to shop selected products at wholesale prices on their own.

And the colours on the first build were too bright. The store had to match the brand's own palette and mood board.

What we built

  • 01 A homepage designed in Figma first We designed the homepage in Figma and went through two rounds of feedback on layout and heading fonts before any code was written. Once the team signed it off, we built it as a draft theme with dynamic section settings, so every section can be edited from the Shopify customiser. The About, Contact and Collection pages followed, and we reworked colours to the brand's primary and secondary palettes once the team shared them.
  • 02 Separate product templates for skin, hair and body We built the main product page and then added two more templates, one for hair and one for body. Each has its own "why you will love it" section. We created metafields for the "How to Use" and "Ingredients" dropdowns, so every product carries its own content instead of sharing one block of text.
  • 03 Six bundles and a mix-and-match soap offer We set up the brand's bundles in the Bundler app: body butter, soap and body oil; face soap, face mist and face oil; two hair growth sets; and a scalp care set at 20% off. Two-product bundles get 10% off and three-product bundles 15%. For "3 soaps for $30" we built a mix-and-match option where customers pick any three soap bars. Where a product sat in more than one bundle, we set a primary bundle so each product page shows one clear offer.
  • 04 Subscriptions on the products people reorder We created a subscription rule with 10% off at 30, 45 and 60 day intervals and tested it on a draft product first. We then applied it to the six products the team chose, including the Velvet Rose Face Serum, Hair Growth Elixir and Radiant Repair Body Butter. New products can be added to the same rule from the admin.
  • 05 A welcome offer and a wholesale page We added a Klaviyo welcome popup that gives new subscribers 10% off their first order, with the code sent in the welcome email. We also built a wholesale page showing selected products at bulk pricing, open to anyone buying in quantity, so wholesale orders no longer have to be keyed in manually.
  • 06 Shop by concern, and fixes after launch We built a homepage section for shopping by concern and extended it from five columns to six so it sits evenly: anti-aging, dull skin, sensitive skin, dry hair, hair growth and body care. After the team launched, they sent a short list of mobile issues. We fixed the welcome message, got bundles showing properly on mobile, added a Hair Care menu, brought back the concern section and pointed the "Ready to Gift" section at the Holiday Gift Sets collection.

06 / In their words
“Monkeyman redesigned our Shopify store starting from the homepage in Figma, then built our product pages, bundles, subscriptions and wholesale page around our own colours and products. They kept us updated at every step and were quick to fix anything we raised, even after we launched. We're happy with our new store and would recommend working with Monkeyman Agency.”
